Mercury Free Dentist Fremont CA

Are you Mercury Free? Is your dentist Mercury Safe?
Here at Dr. Colin Yoshida’s office, we feel that traditional “silver” (mercury) fillings are a poor choice for today’s dentistry. Mercury makes up about 50% (by weight) of an amalgam filling, and mercury vapor in continuously being released from these fillings in amounts that may be harmful to your health. Mercury is one of the most toxic elements known to man, and has no business being placed into the human body.

We have eliminated the placement of amalgam fillings in our office and we use a white resin composite that is durable, and safe for patients. We believe, however, that being “mercury free” is not enough. We feel that it is extremely important to be “mercury safe.” Whenever an old amalgam is removed, there is a potential for a dangerous level of mercury vapor that is released. The patient, dental assistant, dentist and the environment are at risk if protective protocols are not in place. We follow the best guidelines from the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology (www.iaomt.org)

While using this preventative approach to minimizing mercury exposure is important to everyone, it’s a Must to those who:

  • Are pregnant or nursing
  • Suspect or know they are allergic to mercury
  • Have ever had any adverse side effects during or after having amalgam fillings removed.
  • Have a compromised immune system, allergies or other health problems
